Borrowing

Documents can be chosen for borrowing from the open shelves in the Issue Area or in the three Reading Rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors. From the Reading Rooms only the books having white marking on their spine can be borrowed the others are for reference use.  To order borrowable books kept in the stacks one has to send a stack request from the web-based catalogue using a library computer. In case the book you need is not in the catalogue, you have to fill in a paper call slip at the Issue Desk on the 1st floor. Borrowing is only possible personally with one’s own valid Borrower Card.  The borrowing and returning of documents is registered in the computerised library system.  Documents are to be returned before the end of the loan period, the date due is stamped on the flyleaf of every document on loan. In the Library's catalogue it is also possible to check your private account details including the due dates of the books you have on loan. For this you have to identify yourself with your Library Card number (BKE H123456) and library password in Patron login.
Library documents may have different loan categories. High demand Corvinus textbooks and required readings belong to the short loan category. You have to consult the catalogue to find out the exact location and the loan category of a document you need.

Renewal

Books may be renewed before the date due provided no other user has placed a reservation on the given document and the borrower has not used up all his or her possibilities for renewal:

  • Through the Library’s web-based catalogue  - after identifying yourself in Patron login in the private OPAC under Checkouts you will find your loans with due dates (expiration), just click on the Renewal of the item text.
  • E-mail: library@uni-corvinus.hu
  • Phone: 36 (1) 482-7019, 482-7020

When a document is not returned on time overdue fines have to be paid. See also service fees. Until the settlement of the debt, loan of other documents and renewal is not possible. After the date due the Library sends overdue notices to the borrower. If efforts prove to be unsuccessful, the Library will enforce its right and prosecute the claim.

Reservation

When all the borrowable copies of a book are out on loan to other users the title can be reserved through the web-based catalogue. After identifying yourself in Patron login in the Library’s catalogue you have to search for the title of the book and in the detailed description click on Reservation at the top of the page.  Your reservation will be valid for three months and you may be in a queue with others for the book. An e-mail is sent to you when the reserved book arrives to the library and then it can be collected within 3 days. Do let us know if you do not want the reserved book for the sake of others.
